You can apply to come to the UK if you are planning on setting up or running a new business in the UK and you are outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. Your business idea and plan must have been endorsed by an approved body before you are able to proceed with visa applications.

Your business must be new, innovative, viable and scalable, with good potential for growth. If you are eligible for this visa, you and your dependants would be able to stay in the UK for 3 years, after which you would be able to apply for settlement. In order to obtain this visa, you must have at least £50,000 available in funds to invest into your business.

What this visa allows

  • You can set up one or more businesses in the UK
  • You can work for your business, either as being employed as a director or self-employed as a member of a business partnership
  • You are able to bring your family with you

What this visa doesn't allow

  • You cannot conduct work outside of your business
  • You cannot work as a doctor or dentist in training
  • You are unable to work as a professional sportsperson
  • You are not eligible for public funds

Anyone from outside the EEA or Switzerland who has a viable, scalable business idea that has a business idea that has been approved by an endorsing body alongside  £50,000 available in investment funds. The person must also be confident that they can sustain their business for a minimum of three years.

Yes, you must pass a English IELTS exam before getting this visa.

You are eligible to stay for three years, providing you can sustain your business for that time. After the three years you are eligible to renew the visa for three years, or to apply for permanent residency, or indefinite leave to remain.

Yes, you need to have £945 for the main applicant and £630 for each dependant, which will need to be held for 90 consecutive days before the date of the application.
