The Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda is made up of the two large islands of Antigua and Barbuda as well as several smaller islands. St. John's, on the island of Antigua, is the largest capital city. Roughly 97,929 people are living there, and English is the official language. The nation is a constitutional monarchy with parliamentary democracy and is a part of the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, and the Organization of American States, among other international organizations. Agriculture and fishing play a minor role in the economy, which is mostly centered on tourism and services.
Despite gaining independence from the UK in 1981, Antigua and Barbuda continue to be a constitutional monarchy with the British monarch as the head of state. In comparison to many other Caribbean nations, the nation boasts a stable, democratic government and a comparatively high standard of living. The island's pristine sand beaches, blue waters, and warm tropical environment draw tourists from all over the world, making tourism Antigua and Barbuda's major sector. The nation is renowned for its historical sites as well, including Nelson's Dockyard, a former naval outpost that is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition to agriculture and fishing, the financial services sector also contributes to Antigua and Barbuda's economy. The nation produces crops including sugar, cotton, and tropical fruits, and it also exports a lot of fish. People of African, European, Asian, and indigenous heritage make up the population of Antigua and Barbuda, which is varied and multicultural. The nation is renowned for its colorful celebrations and cultural events, including the annual August Carnival.
With a stable political system, a robust economy, and a rich cultural legacy, Antigua and Barbuda is both a well-liked tourist destination and a desirable location to call home.
