In comparison to many other Caribbean nations, the nation boasts a stable, democratic government and a comparatively high standard of living. The island's pristine sand beaches, blue waters, and warm tropical environment draw tourists from all over the world, making tourism Antigua and Barbuda's major sector. The nation is renowned for its historical sites as well, including Nelson's Dockyard, a former naval outpost that is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition to agriculture and fishing, the financial services sector also contributes to Antigua and Barbuda's economy. The nation produces crops including sugar, cotton, and tropical fruits, and it also exports a lot of fish. People of African, European, Asian, and indigenous heritage make up the population of Antigua and Barbuda, which is varied and multicultural. The nation is renowned for its colorful celebrations and cultural events, including the annual August Carnival.
