UAE removed from UK’s travel red list
As of Sunday the 8th of August, the UAE will be downgraded from Red to Amber, with India, Qatar and Bahrain also being downgraded to Amber. This means that non-UK residents from these countries will now be able to travel to the country, whilst UK citizens and residents will face less restrictions with no isolation period in a government-approved hotel.
So what do these new changes mean? Essentially, these changes mean that anyone can now visit and travel to the UK from the UAE, as until now, only UK residents were able to travel to the UK, essentially banning UK residents from visiting the UAE. As per the government guidelines, anyone traveling from an amber country must quarantine in one place for at least 10 days, as well as take a Coronavirus test on day 2 and 8 of their isolation. Individuals who have taken the full dosage of a government approved vaccination, need to take a test on day 2 after arriving, however, they do not need to quarantine or take a test on the 8th day after they arrive, providing that they took their final vaccination shot at least 14 days prior to them travelling.
What’s more, UK citizens who travelled to the UK were mandated to isolate in a government approved hotel for 10 days. Now, any UK citizen from any of the seven emirates will be able to isolate at their own home or anywhere else they choose, providing they stay in the same place for the duration of their quarantine.
This comes as welcome news for UK residents, who can now travel back to the UK with greater ease and with less restrictions. What’s more, it will also allow individuals living in the UK to travel to the UAE for a holiday and return back to the UK with ease. The UAE has already proven itself to be one of the safest countries to travel to in this current climate, due to the fast rollout of the countries vaccination programme, as well as the stringent measures and lockdown rules implemented at the early stages of the pandemic.

This comes at a time when both countries are recovering well from the effects of the pandemic.
Lockdown restrictions within the UK have been gradually being eased off, with workers returning to the office, and leisure venues such as bars, clubs and restaurants, allowed to open and fully operate. The easing of travel restrictions from other countries is just another sign that the UK is well on the road to recover and willing to allow increasing opportunities for business and tourism travel.
